Paxxcell is a sterile powder of ceftiofur sodium (each 1 g contains 1,000 mg ceftiofur sodium) for reconstitution as an injection, for cattle and day-old chicks. Made by B&G Bio & Green Technology, Korea.
- Cattle: treatment of bovine respiratory disease (shipping fever, bacterial pneumonia) caused by Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Haemophilus somnus
- Chicks: control of early mortality linked to E. coli infection in 1-day-old chicks
- Broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin
Directions for use: Cattle: dissolve 1 g of Paxxcell in 20 ml of distilled water for injection and give 1 ml of the reconstituted solution (50 mg ceftiofur) per 50 kg body weight intramuscularly, once a day for 3 consecutive days; if symptoms do not improve, continue up to 5 days. Chicks: dissolve 1 g in 20 ml of sterile solution and give 0.004–0.0016 ml of reconstituted solution (0.08–0.2 mg ceftiofur) per chick subcutaneously in the neck (1 ml of solution treats about 250–625 chicks).
Storage: Powder below 25°C in a closed container (shelf life 24 months). After reconstitution: use within 7 days at 2–8°C or within 12 hours at 15–30°C.
