Randlab Sucralfate Powder is pure sucralfate (100%) in powder form – a locally acting protectant for the lining of the stomach and intestine, used in horses and foals.
- Adjunct treatment for gastric ulcers, especially glandular and pyloric ulcers
- Particularly suited as add-on therapy in Equine Glandular Gastric Disease (EGGD), usually alongside omeprazole
- Has been used for oral, oesophageal, gastric, duodenal and large intestinal ulcers and protein-losing enteropathies
- Has been used to treat and prevent ulcerative colitis/typhlitis, especially after prolonged or high-dose NSAID use, and particularly in foals
- Has also been used, together with suitable dietary management, for chronic diarrhoea of unknown cause in horses
Directions for use: Ideally suspend in water and give over the back of the horse's tongue before feeding, so the ulcerated areas are protected from abrasion and acid during eating; it may also be given in the feed at feeding time. Dose range 4–40 mg/kg twice to four times daily (bid–qid); the most frequently used rates are 12 mg/kg three times daily (tid) or 20 mg/kg twice daily (bid).
- Gastric ulcers, with omeprazole (esp. EGGD): 4–40 mg/kg orally, bid–qid
- Right dorsal colitis: 22 mg/kg orally every 6–8 hours
- Foals, with omeprazole, to prevent gastric ulcers: 10–20 mg/kg orally every 6–8 hours
- Chronic diarrhoea of unknown cause: 20–40 mg/kg bid–qid for a short course (two weeks)
Pack size: 500 g. Storage: Store below 30°C and protect from light. Use under veterinary supervision.
