Blotsim is an oral emulsion of simethicone (100 mg/ml) for the treatment and prevention of bloat in horses, cattle, sheep and goats.
- Horses: excess gas accumulated from feed
- Cattle, sheep and goats: frothy bloat (rumen tympany), e.g. from lush spring pasture, clover or alfalfa
- Can be used preventively before turning animals out to pasture, especially in spring
Directions for use: Single dose: horses and cattle 75 - 100 ml; foals and young cattle 25 - 50 ml; sheep, goats and calves 15 - 25 ml. Mix with about 1 litre of water and give by stomach tube or bottle by mouth. In emergencies, after releasing some gas with a trocar, give undiluted directly into the rumen or caecum. One application is usually sufficient.
